The big trend in the t-shirt market is getting back to mother nature. Our new earth friendly custom organic t-shirts and cotton organic t-shirts are made from 100% organic cotton and contain no chemical bleaches or dyes. So what does "organic" mean? The term defines the process of growing and processing a variety of agricultural products, including food and fibers, without the use of poison fertilizers and pesticides.
About 1/3 of a pound of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used to produce a single pound of conventionally grown cotton fabric and much of these chemicals find their way into the soil, air, water and the food we eat, adversely affecting all associated life. Our organic t-shirts and cotton organic t-shirts are grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. They are colored using organic dyes. This initiative complements Anvil's long-standing environmentally responsible manufacturing processes. Cardboard is recycled instead of discarded, scrap materials are used to generate steam power, and waste water is cleaned beyond the standards set by government regulations.
Our research indicates that companies often don't consider purchasing organic t-shirts because of the previously prohibitive cost increases associated with switching from non-organic to organic, and because of limited colors. That now has all changed.
