How To Plan For A Golf Tournament
Golf continues to skyrocket and so does the popularity and acceptability of golf shirts as a staple of
corporate casual dress codes. With the numbers of people playing golf today, the odds are in your favor
that the majority of your team will-at the very least-be wearing your golf shirt on the green. Just consider
these stats about golfers:
- 21.5 million men
- 5.1 million women
- 43% hold Professional/Management/Administrative occupations

With the increase in popularity of golf it is not surprising that golf outings have become one of the most successful
fundraising vehicles for your sports program. A properly coordinated golf event will get results. The leisurely pace
of golf lends itself to forge stronger relationships with alumni, parents and supporters.
Budgeting For A Tournament
Golfing events are usually priced on a per-person basis. The price typically includes the greens fee, cart rental, and
sometimes food and drinks and golf tournament gifts and golf tournament prizes. The greens fee/cart costs generally start
at about $30 per person and can exceed $150 at the finest golf courses. In formulating the budget, you'll need to account
for golf course expense items and then tournament signage and prizes.
Golf Course Expense Items:
Green fees and cart rentals; food and beverage; for box lunches before the outing, roaming beverage carts and dinner
after the event; tournament services for scorecards, scorekeeping, and scoreboard management; usually, this is a
per-person fee (for a purely recreational outing in which scores are not being kept, this item is unnecessary);
Tournament Gifts and Signage Make A Big Impression
Of the $20 billion a year that Americans spend on golf equipment, clothing and products, about $25 million is spent on
the gifts and tournament prizes that are for golf outings, according to the National Golf Sales Representatives Association.
These gifts run the gamut from useful accessories such as caps, towels, golf shirts and golf balls to lavish awards such as
high-end golf clubs. Event organizers should give careful thought to the gifts and awards.
Signage and merchandise associated with a golf event should have a company name or logo on it. Many gifts and tournament
awards have dual logos -- those of the sponsor and the event itself. and of the event or the resort where the event is
taking place. You can often find sponsors to underwrite the costs of some of the gifts. Sponsors appreciate the visibility
they receive via their logos on signage and golf merchandise used during the event.

Golf Caps/Visors
Golf caps and visors can make you feel stylish, hip and happening. They protect you from the sun, cover our bald spots
and hide a bad hair day and make a statement about who we are and what we like. Wearing company Logo'd golf caps and visors
have never been more popular or fashionable. More companies are getting the message that embroidered caps can turn employees
and customers into walking billboards.
